Obwohl er von Su Wan großgezogen und zum Superkrieger trainiert wurde, verliert der frischgebackene kaiserliche Armeeführer Yuan keine Zeit, seinen Adoptivvater zu ermorden. Su Wans Sohn Su Can würde sich gern dafür rächen, doch dafür muss er erst die Panzerplattenimplantate und Zauberkräfte überwinden, die Yuan sich zwischenzeitlich zugelegt hat. Bei drei exzentrischen Meistern in den Bergen studiert Su Can eine unkonventionelle neue Technik, die erst im Kampf gegen Yuan und dann auswärtige Invasoren erstaunliche Resultate zeigt.

Martial-Arts-Choreograph Yuen Woo-Ping ("The Matrix") bringt die traditionellen Kung-Fu-Filmthemen vom Drunken Master und den Fünf Giften auf den neusten Stand der (Computer-)Technik. Alte und junge Stars des chinesischen Actionkinos ziehen vor spektakulären Kulissen diverse Register der Kampfkunst, doch die Story mit ihren zwei säuberlich getrennten Halbzeiten überzeugt nur in der ersten davon. David Carradine hat einen Gastauftritt in der zweiten, wenn der Held zum Kumite mit grob gewirkten Langnasen antritt. Gute Sache für Fans vom Fach.
